Köln, 1960, The Bibliophile Edition, first Zadkine edition, the complete bound book with text in French, German and English, initialed by Christoph Czwiklitzer on the colophon; one of 150 deluxe copies (total edition 350) with 3 original color lithographs (3 different color states of ”La Belle Nuit”), printed on Zerkall paper, each litho signed by Ossip Zadkine in pencil + 28 lithographs after drawings by the artist, each signed in the plate. Also bound-in are two facsimile manuscript pages and an original photograph (portrait of Ossip Zadkine). Although not called for, a very large folded print by Zadkine, signed in the plate, is inserted loose in the back. Book size 10.5 x 7 in. (26 x 18 cm). Bound in full black morocco gilt with an engraving ”in blind” after a Zadkine drawing on the front cover, in a matching slipcase; in new condition. Aside from this Bibliophile edition, there also was a reprint portfolio edition with 28 signed lithos, published in 1965(?), and yet a later ”facsimile” reprint of the book with no lithos.
